Florida Stays Unanimous #1 For Second-Straight Week
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Florida Gators (46-3) remain the top team in the nation according to the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Poll announced today by the Amateur Softball Association. With 20 first-place votes, Florida is the No. 1 team for the seventh straight week after a three-game shut-out series over then-No.19 LSU (27-13-1).
No.5 Alabama (38-8) moved one spot into the Top Five after going 5-0 this week with wins against Kentucky and Arkansas. Stanford (37-6) fell from last week’s runner-up status to No. 4 after suffering two losses to then-No. 11 Arizona (36-9) and then-No. 8 Arizona State (36-9). Arizona crept into the Top 10 after earning three wins this past week including two mercy rule wins, over Stanford and Cal.
No. 24 Florida State (35-13) made the top 25 while Nevada (30-14) dropped out after posting a 1-2 series against WAC-rival Fresno State.
